Mikael was born in North Carolina and has lived all over the state.
Mikael was graduated from Oak Ridge Military Academy in 1985. While attending Oak Ridge, he received the "Cadet of the Year" Award and the Sons of the American Revolution Medal in his senior year and the American Youth Foundation's "I Dare You" Leadership Award in his junior year.
Mikael attended and was graduated from East Carolina University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Law Enforcement.
After being graduated from East Carolina University, Mikael was sworn in as a state Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent. He was stationed in Winston-Salem, Raleigh, and Charlotte. During this time, he attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to obtain his Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice. In 1997, Mikael received his Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis in Organizational Management.
In 2004, Mikael was graduated from the Appalachian School of Law with a Juris Doctor degree. During his time in law school, he was invited onto the Law Review and received Book Awards for excellence in both Civil and Criminal Procedure courses.
After graduating from law school, Mikael worked for the North Carolina General Assembly as a Senior Attorney and advised members of the General Assembly on issues related to transportation including highways, bridges, airports, ferries, the State Highway Patrol, and the Division of Motor Vehicles. In addition, he advised members on issues related to alcoholic beverages including sales and consumption, permitting, new products, excise taxes on alcohol, enforcement issues related to local ABC Officers, and State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents. In addition to his other duties, Mikael also advised members of both the majority and minority parties on appropriations related issues including IT infrastructure, the state's Voice Interoperability Plan for Emergency Responders, the State Bureau of Investigation, the State Crime Lab, and Justice and Public Safety agencies and courts.
After leaving the General Assembly, Mikael took a position working for Reuben F. Young, Secretary of Public Safety, as the Chief Deputy Secretary and Chief Operating Officer of the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. While in this position, Mikael was responsible for oversight and management of all operations for a principal state department employing over 26,000 employees.
Mikael is ready to use his law enforcement, legislative, and legal expertise to assist in any way so that he can provide tangible results for clients on a budget.
